Educational Psychology - Sport Pedagogy and Motor Behavior

Graduate program offered by the UNT College of Education

A Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Psychology with a concentration in Sport Pedagogy and Motor Behavior focuses on the research and development of innovative approaches to PK-12 physical activity/education that help school-aged children acquire health-related knowledge and skills.

Sport pedagogy is often positioned within the realm of education or as a sub-discipline of Kinesiology. Sport pedagogy is unique as a practice-focused area of study and as a unifying discipline where all aspects of kinesiology and educational theory come together. This collaboration allows sport pedagogy to draw upon and contribute to the development of knowledge in both realms.

This collaborative degree between the Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Recreation and the Department of Educational Physiology prepares students to become academic scholars in the field of physical education and activity. Our faculty provide students with individualized mentorship through progressive milestones towards degree.
