The Six-Hour Update

UNT's Office of Gifted and Talented Education is proud to announce this summer's Six-Hour Update program, on June 2nd, 2025!

UNT's Six-Hour Update provides a space for educators to get hands-on with research-centered information from experts in the field. Please join us for a six-hour professional learning experience for teachers and gifted students, led by a nationally recognized expert. 

This year, we welcome Shelagh Gallagher, Ph.D. to share her expertise and knowledge.

Shelagh A. Gallagher, Ph.D., is the Director of the Office of Gifted and Talented at the University of North Texas.  She is internationally recognized for her work in Problem-Based Learning; eight of her PBL curriculum units have won the NAGC Curriculum Division Award for Outstanding Curriculum.  She has received the Distinguished Service Award and the James J. Gallagher Award for Advocacy from the North Carolina Association for Gifted and Talented, the Provost’s Award for Teaching Excellence from UNC Charlotte, and “Person of SIGnificance” award from the National Society for Gifted and Talented.  She spent many years mentoring in a fourth grade reading club, and every summer, Dr. Gallagher makes time to work with gifted adolescents as a Fellow at the IEA award-winning camp Yunasa.

Participants will receive a certificate stating you have earned 6 contact hours upon completion.
