The Psychosocial Aspects of Sport & Exercise Laboratory, directed by Dr. Scott Martin, focuses on research in these areas in line with the American Psychological Association Division 47 (Sport and Exercise Psychology) and the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) missions to help individuals use psychological and social principles and skills to achieve optimal health and to improve performance and to understand how participation in sport, exercise, and physical activity affect psychosocial development, health, and well-being. The goals are also congruent with the American College of Sports Medicine's (ACSM) mission to promote and integrate research, education, and application of sport and exercise science for the maintenance and enhancement of sport performance, fitness and health, and life quality.
