Zutella Vea Holmes (she/her) is a doctoral student in Early Childhood Studies at the University of North Texas. She is a graduate of the HBCU Prairie View A&M University (PV!), Texas State, and currently is a Justice Scholar at UNT. Prior to attending UNT, she was an early childhood educator for 9 years. She continues to be an advocate for children and early childhood education. Her research focuses on anti-racist texts in early childhood classrooms, the adultification of Black children, and the experiences of Black women preservice teachers in education programs. Through the lenses of Critical Race Theory and Black Feminist Thought, she hopes to unsettle dominant educational discourses.
