All academic advising appointments are scheduled through EAB Navigate. To schedule an in-person or virtual appointment, visit unt.navigate.eab.com to download the Navigate Student app or click the button below. Drop-in advising appointments are also available each week on Wednesdays, and more information can be found below.

REMINDER: All students in their first semester at UNT, as well as students who are on academic alert or probation, are required to come in for advising prior to registration. Incoming first-time-in-college and transfer students are required to attend orientation to meet with an advisor to register for courses.

The COE Student Advising Office offers drop-in appointments for current COE students on Wednesdays, with in-person and virtual options available. Drop-in appointments are best suited for quick questions regarding courses or making an adjustment to a class schedule.

COE Ambassador Program

College of Education (COE) Ambassadors are exceptional undergraduate students who represent their major, the College of Education, and the University of North Texas. Ambassadors serve as peer mentors by offering advice and insight to current COE students through office hours and Student Advising Office initiatives.

Eligible candidates are expected to maintain strong knowledge of the College of Education, UNT, and provide leadership and support to prospective students, families, alumni, donors, and current students across all COE majors. To learn more about the program and apply, click the link below!

Plan, Prepare and Execute: Meeting with a COE Advisor

Advising is a multi-step process that makes sure you are in the right courses, meeting requirements, and discussing plans to get you through to graduation. As Advisors, we follow the same general steps you will see below, with a bit more context provided by our professional training and years of experience.

Determine the type of appointment you need: The COE student advising office offers a variety of appointment options to students. Drop-in appointments are best suited for quick questions regarding courses or making an adjustment to a class schedule. For services such as changing your major/minor, course planning for an upcoming semester, or a graduation check, you are encouraged to schedule a 30-minute appointment. In-person and drop-in appointments can be attended in-person or virtually (via Zoom).
Review your account for holds at my.unt.edu: Check your Tasks in MyUNT for holds and to-do list items such as Student Financial Obligation, Advising Required, Transcript Hold, and others. Click on those titles if they appear to learn more. If you see advising required, you will need to meet with your academic advisor.
Run a degree audit at mydegreeaudit.unt.edu to find out what you have already accomplished, and what you have left to graduate: Detailed instructions and visual aids for running and understanding your online degree audit can be found here: https://registrar.unt.edu/online-degree-audit
Determine the number of hours you want to take in the coming semesters—fall, winter, spring, and/or summer: Consider the following factors to create a balanced schedule: work obligations, personal life, and other commitments. In addition, do you receive financial aid? Check with Student Financial Aid and Scholarships to see if you need to be full-time, part-time, or have other requirements.
Make a tentative plan for the courses you want to take: Your degree audit will help you find out what is left to get you through to graduation. Look up class descriptions at catalog.unt.edu. Be sure to look at the prerequisites for each class. Lastly, bring the plan you created to your next advising session.
Register for classes: Use https://my.unt.edu to search for and add the classes that you are going to take.
Check your UNT email regularly: Stay up-to-date with correspondence sent from the COE student advising office and the university by checking your UNT email account regularly.
