Caitlin Frawley Ph.D., LMHC, C-CCPT

Dr. Caitlin Frawley is an Assistant Professor of Counseling at the University of North Texas and Co-Director of the UNT PLAY Lab. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (FL) and Certified Child-Centered Play Therapist, she has provided play therapy, counseling, clinical supervision, and counselor education in private practice, community, and educational settings. Before joining UNT, she was a Visiting Lecturer and Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Central Florida, where she coordinated the Play Therapy Certificate program. Her clinical expertise includes working with children and adolescents affected by complex trauma and involvement in residential and community-based systems of care.

Dr. Frawley’s research examines child-centered play therapy and other developmentally responsive, relationship-based interventions for children and caregivers affected by trauma and relational disruption. Her scholarship focuses on therapeutic processes that support children’s emotional expression, self-understanding, and healing; attachment and caregiver relationships; and counselor development, training, and self-efficacy. Grounded in person-centered theory, her work connects clinical practice, counselor education, and supervision to improve services for children and families.
