The Elaine Millikan Mathes Professorship in Early Childhood Education
The Meadows Chair for Excellence in Education, established at UNT in 1996 by an endowment from the Meadows Foundation, supports the educational mission of the department, the college, and the university. Professor James Hoffman, who belongs to the faculty of Teacher Education and Administration, holds the Meadows Chair position.
The Mike Moses Endowment in Educational Leadership honors the significant role of UNT and school districts to focus on the research and preparation of outstanding educational leaders in the State and the Nation. Professor Elizabeth Murakami holds the Mike Moses Endowment in Educational Leadership position.
The Velma E. Schmidt Endowed Chair for Early Childhood Education was initiated in 1991 using the donation of lifelong childhood educator Velma E. Schmidt, who willed her estate to the University of North Texas for the construction of an endowed chair position dedicated to improving life circumstances and learning opportunities of/for young children. The position has been previously been held by Dr. George Morrison (1995-2005) and Dr. Gaile S. Cannella (2009-2013).
