SERC provides engaging STEAM programming for PK–12 learners and educators, including summer camps, field trips, and professional development workshops. SERC also advances STEM education research to improve teaching and learning at local, regional, national, and international levels. Now Hiring: Summer Camp Counselors

The STEAM Education & Research Collaboratory (SERC) in the UNT College of Education is hiring Summer Camp Counselors to support our STEAM camps for students in grades 3–8. These camps provide hands‑on, engaging learning experiences that reflect SERC’s commitment to high‑quality STEAM programming for PK–12 learners. (Information supported by your SERC homepage.)

Counselors play a key role in welcoming campers, facilitating activities, and supporting the daily operations that make SERC summer camps a safe and exciting experience.

Position Details

  • Pay: $15–$20/hr (based on experience)
  • Schedule: May 18, 2026 – June 5, 2026
  • Hours: Part‑time, ~25 hours/week
  • Location: On‑campus, in Denton, TX
  • Eligibility:
    • Must have U.S. work authorization
    • Open to OPT/CPT
    • Work‑Study Eligible (must have accepted an award)
  • Work-Study Applicants: Must attach a copy of your financial aid award letter

This is an in‑person position that supports daily camp operations at SERC.

Responsibilities

Summer Camp Counselor duties include:

  • Setting up daily camp activities
  • Serving meals
  • Facilitating STEAM camp sessions and supporting student engagement
  • Cleaning up after activities
  • Managing accurate records, including check-in and check-out
  • Supporting additional tasks as assigned

Required Skills

  • Ability to work well with children
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers
  • Highly organized
  • Strong attention to detail

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience working or volunteering in:
    • Schools
    • After‑school programs
    • Summer camps
    • Youth‑focused organizations
