About the Pathway

The UNT B/C combo is an innovative, year-long (unpaid), classroom-based experience that allows aspiring educators to learn through hands-on teaching while completing their degree and teacher certification at the University of North Texas.

Teacher candidates are paired with experienced host teacher in partner school districts, gaining valuable real-world experience while receiving guidance and support from UNT faculty, site coordinators, and field supervisors.

Eligibility

The UNT B/C Combo Clinical Teaching Pathway is open to undergraduate teacher candidates pursuing:

  • EC–6 ESL Certification
  • EC–6 Bilingual Certification
  • EC-6 + EC–12 SPED Specialist Certification

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Admitted to the UNT Teacher Education Program
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA across all GPA categories
  • TSI Complete
  • Complete all required certification exam testing and coursework prerequisites before beginning clinical teaching.

Program Support

Clinical Teachers completing clinical teaching through this pathway receive full support from the UNT Educator Preparation Program, including:

  • Supervision by a university field supervisor and Site Coordinator
  • Guidance from a cooperating teacher on campus
  • Professional feedback, documentation, and growth support throughout the semester
Program Completion & Certification

Upon successful completion of the program and all state requirements, candidates will be recommended for a standard Texas teacher certification.
